No news today

There is virtually no news for the markets to move on today.  The Dow is slightly positive, and just over 14,000 for the moment.  President Obama is scheduled to give the State of the Union address tonight.  Investors may be waiting to see if there will be any clarity to the political future, which may impact tomorrow’s markets.  mortgage bonds are holding on the same price range for the 12^th day, so interest rates have not made any moves lower.  This price range could be holding in place from all the Fed buying, so a lock at these levels is a safe play for short term transactions.
